Women in the Church

The purpose of the Women's Ministry is to be used by God to bring women into a right relationship with Christ and others, and to help believers develop godly character and ministry skills.

Each woman who is a member of Christ Presbyterian Church is also a member of the Women's Ministry.

The Women's Ministry seeks to provide opportunities for church-wide fellowship and opportunities for women to gather together to study the Scriptures, pray, and fellowship. The Women's Ministry seeks to encourage and enable women to exercise their gifts and abilities to the glory of God in the total work and worship of the church.

     Responsibilities of the Women's Ministry:

  • Consider and evaluate the overall church program and the women's ministries in order to plan ways for women to participate in the work of the congregation
  • Provide opportunities for women to gather together to pray, to study the Scriptures, and to fellowship
  • Plan and coordinate times of church-wide fellowship
  • Connect women with gifts to people with needs so that the body functions to the glory of God
  • Maintain contact with the PresWIC organization and encourage participation in presbytery- and denomination-wide activities for women
  • Meet regularly to do long-range and detailed planning for the Women's Ministry
  • Maintain contact with the Deaconate and pastors regarding mercy ministry opportunities

Women's Fellowship - WMC plans and organizes various fellowship activities during each calendar year for the women of the church to build relationships and provide opportunities for prayer and studying scripture.  Some of the fellowship opportunities include:

    • Dessert Social
    • Heart-to-Heart
    • Movie Night
    • "Souper" Bowl Saturday
    • Project/Craft Day
    • Women's Bible Study/Devotions

WMC & Church Fellowship - WMC plans and organizes church-wide fellowship opportunities including:

  • Church Picnic
  • Operation Christmas Child
  • Angel Tree
  • WIC Love Gift
  • Supper Club
  • Fall Festival
  • Christmas with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO)
  • College Care Packages

     Other Ministry Areas:

The Women's Ministry Reception Subcommittee - The Reception coordinator responds to requests from groups within Christ Presbyterian Church for assistance in planning and conducting church-wide receptions on the church property.  The Women's Ministry Subcommittee holds church-wide receptions only in the case of special events such as CPC's fall and spring choir concerts, pastoral celebrations, like ordinations, and for funerals.

Meals Ministry - The Meals Ministry coordinator works with persons in need of meals to coordinate the frequency and duration of the meals.  The coordinator maintains a volunteer list for the Meals Ministry.

Shut In Ministry- WMC Council led ministry ensuring church shut ins receive regular encouragement and contact from the congregation through visits, calls, and letters.
