Sunday Evening Series

The late Dr. R. Laird Harris, Old Testament scholar and professor under whom the pastor studied at Covenant Theological Seminary, noted in his book, Can I Trust My Bible: "We can now be sure that copyists worked with great care and accuracy on the Old Testament, even back to 225 B.C. . . . indeed, it would be rash skepticism that would now deny that we have our Old Testament in a form very close to that used by Ezra when he taught the Word of the Lord to those who had returned from the Babylonian captivity."

In his book, New Testament Documents, Are They Reliable?, the late Dr. F.F. Bruce wrote: "The evidence for our New Testament writings is ever so much greater than the evidence for many writings of classical authors, the authenticity of which no-one dreams of questioning. And if the New Testament were a collection of secular writings, their authenticity would generally be regarded as beyond all doubt. It is a curious fact that historians have often been much readier to trust the New Testament than have many theologians."

In this winter-spring series, Pastor Finch will enable participants to learn about:

How the Bible was written

Early writing materials

Early Bible translations

People who gave their lives to bring us the Bible; and

Reasons to believe in the accuracy of the Bible.

Material from the PowerPoint series, "How We Got the Bible" by Rose Publishing, will be utilized along with additional materials furnished by the pastor. You are invited to join us for this very interesting series.

Isaiah 40:8

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
