He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Education from Columbia Bible College in Columbia, South Carolina, his Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and is a Doctor of Ministry candidate at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina.

- During Pastor Finch's final year of seminary, he began to serve as the pulpit supply for the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Cutler, Illinois at which he would minister for fifteen years. 

- From Illinois he and his family transitioned to Texas where he served for nine years as associate pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bryan and for one year as an associate for church planting in Houston with the South Texas Presbytery. 

- Following his pastoral ministry in Texas, he accepted a call and began his service as pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia in August of 1998. 

- During the course of his ministry, Pastor Finch has mentored eleven pastoral interns. 

- His Presbytery and General Assembly responsibilities have included the following: 

    - Moderator of the Illiana Presbytery, 

    - Moderator of the South Texas Presbytery, 

     - Moderator of the North Georgia Presbytery, and 

     - Membership on the PCA's Christian Education and Publication Committee.
