Bible Overview Course 2010-2011
Are You Puzzled When You Try to Understand the Bible as a Whole?
Beginning in late January, Pastor Finch will begin to teach a Bible overview course entitled, The Story of Jesus Christ, God’s Son - Savior. This is a very interesting study which focuses on fourteen books of the Bible which are referred to as ‘window’ books because each book covers an expanded window of time in redemptive history. The fourteen books which will be studied in chronological order are: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, Matthew, Acts and Revelation. The Christocentric nature of each of these fourteen books will be highlighted throughout the course.
This series of classes enables the student to gain a succinct, panoramic overview of the entire Bible. Pastor Finch has taught this subject for an international Bible study in Texas, at Inchon Seminary in Korea, to prospective missionaries at the Center for Intercultural Training in North Carolina, and earlier in his ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church.
Participants in this study receive a copy of the fourteen-chapter notebook along with a chart that demonstrates how the Old Testament books interface chronologically with the genealogy of Christ. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned student of the Bible, this study will be very helpful to your understanding of the Word.
Two one-hour Sunday evening classes will be taught per month beginning on January 24. The classes will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. in the following months: January – May, 2010; September – December, 2010; and January – February, 2011. Please see page 2 for the specific goals of this course and page 3 for the schedule of classes for this series. Please contact the church secretary (secretary@christpreschurch.org or 770-956-7572) if you desire to be included in this upcoming series.
